Alison Gill, Roz Lowry and Emma Rushton at the Fete Worse Than Death. There had recently been a show at the ICA called Bad Girls and the German arts-scene was prominent, we combined these themes with an English cottage-industry/summer Fete aesthetics. We sold hand-made ‘wurst’ (German sausage), had a special platter dedicated to Linda McCartney (vegetarian sausage rolls) and had an electric shock machine with a stall covered in traditional bunting. We wore Worst Girl T-shirts and gingham pinnies. It all seemed to make sense at the time.
