The visual tropes of science fiction, fairytales, folklore and horror are examined in the sculpture Sleeper Night Witches to explore how old and familiar discourses can easily take hold of cultural fantasies when in the face of serious threat. Exhibited at the Jerwood Gallery in Space to Draw, ‘examing the connections between drawing and sculpture, Space to Draw is a curated exhibition of works from a mixture of emerging and established artists with a previous relationship with Jerwood: Antony Gormley, Neville Gabie, Peter Randall-Page, Michael Shaw, Heather Deedman, Alison Gill and Paul McDevitt. Most of these artists are known for their sculpture or site-specific work and drawing is an essential part of their practice.’
